Douglas Fir Wood

  • Species: Derived from Pseudotsuga Menziesii.
  • Origin: North America (USA, Canada).
  • Durability: Moderately durable; resistant to decay in dry conditions but less so when exposed to prolonged moisture without treatment.
  • Highlights: A strong and stable softwood with excellent load-bearing capacity, it has a light reddish to yellowish-brown color with darker streaks and is versatile and widely used in construction and structural applications.
  • Form: Dimensional Lumber, Timbers, Plywood.
  • Grade: Select Structural, #1, #2, Construction.
  • Moisture: Typically kiln-dried to a moisture content of (6 – 12%), with (6 – 8%) ideal for interior use and (10 – 12%) suited for exterior applications or green lumber.
